Well as far as I know it's not. The problem is, it's very unlikely anyone will believe you if you say you haven't dropped the phone if it's cracked. It's also entirely possible someone else dropped it and didn't tell you. And a case does not make the phonr uncrackable. It helps make it less likely, but not by much.

Welcome to the forums! I'm so sorry this happened to you! When did you get your phone - is it still under warranty? Had it been in your pocket or anything like that - sometimes sand, for example, can cause scratching and cracks.

It has a case as well, purchased at AT&T when I got the phone. Is this common?

I suppose it's possible that the phone was twisted or something in a pocket. I don't know how much twisting stress the back can handle. The camera bump is the only protrusion through the glass, so it could explain how the damage could radiate from the camera bump.

I'd have to agree with the first response that it'll be a very tough sell to get AT&T to work with you here. Stranger things have happened though. If you have insurance, now might be the time to use it. If you paid full price for it and used a credit card, you may be able to get some help toward repair or replacement through the card issuer. That'll be in the cardholder benefits paperwork and those pesky terms and conditions that not very many folks really read.

Good luck.

This is different. The OP's back glass shattered. Not the camera.
