Does anyone know if warranty covers this?

WOW! that's ugly. Did you set it on something hot? Maybe even just something that was in the sun? You car or a metal bench on a hot day? I suggest taking off the back and seeing if this is on the inside also. If so, you probably want to have it checked out and probably exchanged. If it's not inside, I would say that it was set on or near something hot. it is just plastic after all, and will melt if it gets near something hot.

Yah its incredibly ugly :( i left it in the car and I live in Vegas where its around 100... T-T I don't know how to open the back but I'm glad my battery is still charging

I doubt the warranty would cover that situation, but it's always worth a shot.

No It was just in the car but for some reason it turned on by itself so it was on for quite a while, the heat and battery use probably got to it?

Depends on where the sun hit it most, maybe reflecting light got to it? I read this thing about how sunlight reflecting off a neighbor's window concentrated on a specific part of some guy's car, eventually melting it. took forever for the guy to know what was melting his car lol

Lol las Vegas.. desert.. 100 degrees outside is probably like 180 inside a car 30 degrees more and you can boil water.

That really sucks, hope they help you out from a warranty stand point.

I bet if you do some research you will be able (now or soon) to find a back for sale from someone who has trashed their 7 in some way. Watch ebay and your local craigslist. Google might sell you one too. Backs are easy to pop off and replace. Just look at some of the threads in regard to fixing the screen lift issue.

was it sitting on anything? especially a soft plastic?

I had a cd player which i left touching a cheap raincoat. my guess is that the oil in the raincoat dissolved the paint. it looked a lot like your picture.

it looks like somebody placed a tiny iron on your nexus. do you have any apple fanboys as friends?...

lolol yah my poor tablet I'm never leaving it in the car again. I'll call up the warranty people this week (:

That suks, hope its covered for ya.Keep us posted as to what happens .
