Did Verizon mess up?

Hi,

A few days ago I had to exchange my wife's Note 3 and my Note 3 because of defects. I got an order e-mail confirmation for my phone being charged for the replacement while it's being shipped but my wife's confirmation e-mail doesn't show her replacement being charged. Our question is, is she getting her Note 3 replacement for free? Can they still charge her later if she doesn't return the broken unit?

See the difference email confirmations:

I can't see the pics because I'm on the AC forums app, but I can say in general that they can and will charge for the replacement phones if you don't return the defective ones in a reasonable amount of time. Even if it's a free warranty replacement.

they can absolutely charge you for the other phone, more than likely the retail cost if it's not returned

Don't mess with Verizon on this situation. Send the defective phone back. Not worth the hassle

being a person who has dealt with then when I had the Thunderbolt and Rezound, send it back. Big Red doesn't play with this, they can and will charge you. I got an email asking about my return phone two days after I had dropped it at fed ex. I had to produce the tracking number, because they were about to slap me with a $600 bill.

If you don't return it you will be charged. End of story.

Otherwise everyone would do this and get a free 2nd phone.. After just saying the old one is broken.

Agreed. Also, I strongly recommend getting a receipt. Don't just drop it off at the drop box or go into the store and drop off without a receipt. If the package was lost and no tracking, then you would be sol.

They WILL charge you for the old phone if you don't send it back. You basically have 5 days to send it back, however they is a little bit of wiggle room before they charge you.

Can I ask what was wrong with your Note's?? Mines working flawlessly.

I agree, when I did a warranty exchange on the phone Verizon was very efficient and fast. The box the replacement came it also had a prepaid return label. Just slap the label on the box and drop it off at one of the mail stores (I can't remember if it was Fedex or UPS). They also called and left several reminders about returning the old phone. Every reminder let me know that if I did not return the phone I would be charged for the full price of the replacement.

Agree with everyone here...Verizon WILL charge you for the full retail price of a phone if it is not returned within 5 days. And by "returned" it jut has to be in their replacement box within 5 days so that they can track the sucker. Every phone I ever returned, from flip phones, to smart phones, I put that thing in the box within 2 business days and shipped it out. I'll say this much, the last two phones I did return (two Droid Charges) so that I could get Galaxy S3s (I have Extended Warranty and TEC on two lines of my five lines) I got scary text messages saying to please return the phones, but I knew both were en route to the warehouse, so I wasn't worried about it. They both ended up going to where they needed to go.

I am curious to know what kind of "defects" you had with two Note 3s though. I could understand one, but two?
