Did you pre-order the Revue?

Dammit, $300 is a chunk of change for this thing.

Had to do it, though. :)

i'm sitting here with the cc in front of me hovering over the pre-order button. I think i'll wait and see how nicely it integrates with the crappiest cable box known to man (The Cox communcations Motorola DVR Box)

Wonder if it will work with TiVo Premiere boxes?? They do have a HDMI out but i am guessing it may not. It would be a no brainer if they supported Google Video Chat, Fring or any other Android Video Chat app. Anyone have thoughts on this......

I don't think $300 is bad at all considering what you're getting.

Consider how much you paid for the last device you bought that ran Android OS.

Consider how much the most powerful netbooks cost.

Consider how much the most powerful Logitech Harmony remote costs.

Consider how much a wireless keyboard/mouse costs.

That's what you're getting... plus a way to seamlessly integrate everything with your existing multimedia sources (aka Google TV) for $300. Sounds like a steal to me.

It doesn't mean in stock. It means you can pre order. When I called the 800 number, they told me when something is in pre order, it usually means 3-4 weeks.

Sorry, but it IS too expensive, especially in this economy. What does it offer over Apple TV which is a third of the cost and will probably be its direct competitor?

And I'm not trolling by asking that, I'm being serious - because the only thing I really see is allowing you to browse the web and use apps, which frankly isn't that compelling.

Apple TV can only interface with content directly within iTunes. So if you want to watch it using Apple TV, it must be in iTunes, which obviously does not include your cable/satellite TV source (among other things). The Revue will interface with just about anything under the sun. If Google search can find it, you can watch it.

Apple TV is capped at 720p. The Revue supports up to 1080p.

Apple TV cannot control your entire multimedia ecosystem like Logitech's Harmony technology can. The Revue has Logitech's most powerful version of its Harmony technology built in. And it also responds to whatever Logitech Harmony remote you already own.

IMO, Apple TV has no chance. Boxee Box is Google TV's only real competitor.

But when searching things like DVRs, cable boxes, etc, don't the cable companies have to be on board to allow that to happen? Which companies said they will allow their equipment to interface with Google TV other than Dish?

I'm kind of an A/V newbie, but what are the advantages of the Harmony system? What does it offer?

I'm actually investigating this right now because I don't understand how it can be done, even though I've seen the demo of it happening.

The long and short of it is that it's a universal remote that controls everything that, well... supports a remote control (mine will actually control a floor fan). Additionally, it allows you to set up profiles for all of your devices... so a "watch TV" profile will turn on your TV (to the right input source), your stereo (to the right input source), and your cable box all in one button press. A "watch DVD" profile might switch your TV and stereo to DVD as the source, turn off the cable box, and turn on the DVD player (and also control the DVD player). The technology has gotten better over the years to even interface with a PS3 and easily move through the PS3 menus (as if you were using the PS3 controller).

Honestly, even with this Harmony stuff, Logitech shot themselves in the foot with the price.

A dream come true would have been $99. I was hoping for $149. I expected $199.

But $299? Really? Make that Harmony stuff extra - frankly I don't care about it, I just want Google TV. They should have priced it at $199, gave us the mini-keyboard, and said if you wanted to include the Harmony stuff it would have been an extra $100.

I just don't see anything justifies that price point right now, and I'm a tech geek! If a GEEK can't justify spending money on this, how will Average Joe Consumer be able to?

I pre-ordered.

Looks exactly like what I wish my HTPC would have done.

Sorry, I'm missing something, I don't see any type of Harmony remote included only the keyboard. I'm guessing if you want to watch a physical dvd you still need another remote unless your using an android phone as a remote.

The keyboard includes controls for media players as well. See detailed pictures here. I ordered mine, now I have to figure out how to feed TV into it since I don't have cable or satellite.
