Difference Between Verizon and Unlocked Pixel 2XL?

I am looking to buy a Pixel 2XL 3rd party. I use T-Mobile and this is the Verizon version. I know it'll work on T-Mobile just fine however are there any differences between the Verizon and Unlocked versions such as timely updates?

No, t-mo/fi/Verizon are usually kind of slow to approve of an update but it's only by like a day or two. The real difference is root and warranty. Verizon variant is locked and you have to go through them for warranty(from what I've seen Google is more difficult to deal with if you have the Verizon model). You can't root your phone either, that's all.

Just to clarify....My Verizon model was purchased through Google is no different as far as service. I had a problem and they gave me the option of getting new before sending back old. As far as purchased directly from Verizon, I called them for someone else and they will also handle it in warranty but I believe you have to send old one back first.

Hmmmm I kept seeing horror stories that Verizon would direct you to Google then Google would direct you to Verizon. But if you get the right person you're taken care of. I did also read with some they made you send the phone back first and others were sent a Verizon variant first. Which is kind of annoying/difficult if someone is put in that situation.

If it's purchased directly through Google they treat it the same as unlocked. They never even asked where I bought it but of course they knew and they already had all my info on file including credit card. I used the chat support and was very effective.

This is the key. Customer Service is only as good as the person you are talking to. I've had good and bad with Google, Project Fi, and Verizon.

Facing the west and saying a quick prayer to the CS Gods usually helps - :p
