Different phone answer sliders on near identical phones

Hi.
My wife and I both have identical Samsung Fascinates. Since mine refused to download the OTA update to Gingerbread and my wife's OTA update slowed her phone, I decided to update both of them manually with Odin (i.e. I downloaded the official ROM). Then I rooted both phones again.
During the process, my wife's phone lost all data, and I didn't have a new enough backup, so her phone pretty much started from scratch again. On my phone I restored most of my apps and a very few selected system settings.
Now, when I get a phone call and my phone is locked, I get the red and green buttons to answer the call or ignore it etc.
My wife has a new sideways slider that neither of us has ever seen before.
We both have the same stock locking mechanism (the slide lock thingy). None of us have any special launchers or widgets installed (as I said: Her phone lost everything!).

Any clue why her phone would have this different slider?
Did the sideways slider come with Gingerbread?
How do I switch between the two?
