Hi, all.

I'm in search of a digital frame app that I can install that will give me some specific features - I'm hoping that someone here can name one instead of me trying to figure out how to search it out in the Play Store.

- Needs to be able to access content via SMB Share on my local network server
- Needs to be able to display Photos in various formats (if it can handle HEIC from Apple devices, that's a plus, but not required)
- Needs to be able to play video files in MP4 format
- Needs to auto re-scan the media location so I can add new media files to the server and not have to restart the app to get them to display
- Needs to be configurable for displaying by allowing variable display time, shuffle of media files (random order), and ability to keep the screen on when running
- Auto start on boot-up of device would be highly desirable
- Ability to keep running unless a passcode or similar is entered

Fotoo looks like a very nice app, but does not seem to support the ability to play video content (unless it just doesn't support MP4?). Most of the other apps I've seen do not seem to be able to support accessing content off of a local server via SAMBA (they seem to only support cloud storage, and that's not an option for me).

TIA!

You'd have to develop an app like that, or pay someone to develop one for you.

Auto rescan by what? Time? Every hour? An SMB device can't trigger rescan.

A picture display app that has built-in SMB? Not that I know of.

Exactly what did you base your reply on?

"An SMB device can't trigger a rescan". When did I ask for that? My need is "auto re-scan the media location" which implies it is a component of the app.

"A picture display app that has built-in SMB? Not that I know of." Interesting, because the app I mentioned, Fotoo, does have that feature as do a few others I've found. In fact, as I wrote in my original post, Fotoo has everything that I am looking for EXCEPT the ability to play MP4 files. Had you looked at it before posting your reply, you might have had a much better understanding of the ask here. And, given your admission of never hearing of apps that can do what Fotoo does (or what I asked for), you might have even found an app that would have been useful to you.

Does anyone have anything useful to add?
