I'm thrilled that my Hero and my girlfriend's iPhone are getting tossed in place of two Nexus S 4G's on the way from telesales! Now I'm working on some protection for them once they arrive (which will be the second order of business after rooting).

I know that the shape and size of the Nexus S 4G differs slightly from the Nexus S. Are the two similar enough in size that accessories for the Nexus S will fit the Nexus S 4G? In particular, I'm wondering about screen protectors and cases. I'm a loyal Boxwave customer, and they don't have the 4G in their system yet, just the original Nexus S.

From what I gather, the Nexus S 4G is one millimeter longer. But that is enough to make some cases no go.

There's another thread going regarding cases for the S 4G. A few members are posting that the Nexus S cases are working on the Nexus S 4G phones. I have a cheapo amazon case that fits (made for Nexus S), but i don't like the way i have to press really hard on the power button. It fits really tight, so that is probably due to the size difference. I know Best Buy had quite a few cases there and i'm kicking myself in the arse for not picking up the white platinum case since i can't find it on their website or anywhere else for that matter.

It sounds like the cases will be a trial and error thing until someone has tried it or the manufacturer updates their specs. Is the screen identical between the Nexus S and 4G?

using different chargers

Would it damage the battery if I use a charger that output. The same amount of voltage but higher amps. For example, my Samsung charger outputs 5v, .7A. And my palm charger outputs 5v, 1A. Does using the higher. Amps Charger charge the phone quick or damagers the battery. Or phone?

I didn't get the platinum case bc my evo had one and it scratches the phone. Sprint has a nice one similar to it w/ a case and holster. I picked that up and an invisible shield, so I'm good to go.

EDIT:

found dimensions on www.

nexus is 7.2mm too wide for atrix case, otherwise, it'd fit.

124.0 x 63.0 x 11 mm Nexus
117.8 x 63.5 x 11 mm Atrix

i'll take my atrix case to bb or sprint and try.

figure i can use top as guide if phone is affixed to display cord.

got rid of atrix after 2 weeks. best choice i've made, besides divorcing second wife. lol

reasoned unit had poor quality control of components based on user feedback/posts.

to me, 'return unit for a good one' indicates component issues, and not software. software is just 0/1's and would be uniform across all units. plus 2 updates from version xx.47 to ver xx.84 in two months suggest lots of behind the scenes fix-it attempts.
