DInc Gingerbread update delayed

Bummer. I guess this is a good example of why they never give us firm release dates. That's about the most positive spin I can put on this.

I am not a bit surprized GB has been delayed either . Actually I would have been surprized if it hadn't been delayed.

But wait, there seems to be a claim that GB has already been downloaded, installed, rooted and packaged as a flashable rom. Hmmmm. :)

Another reason to root now and enjoy all the GB goodness you can through ROM's. :)

CM7 has been exceeding my expectations since I started using it, so I really see no need for the official GB from VZW.....which is a good thing anyway because if you're in the upstate South Carolina area, VZW has 105 towers down so nothing's working anyway.

Yep and it is working great for me....
I was rooted already and this was painless.

EDIT: It came with tons of bloatware, more than in the past, so I had to delete all of that.

all i have to say

I can honestly say that I figured it wouldn't come out as soon as it was stated, even though I was wishing it would. With Gingerbread on the table for so many devices that are so old, and Ice Cream Sandwich around the corner, I don't know if it's the responsibility on the carriers to put out the updates, or whether Google should do it. I keep saying this, and I might be all alone, but I think Google needs to tighten the reigns on Android, hell charge for it even, but with more control the updates and fragmentation issues will decrease, substantially.

Why would you say you unrooted for nothing? It's confirmed that it is coming... which is better than last week when it seemed like everyone was getting riled up because they were convinced it was not comming.

If they canceled it completely then yes I would say you unrooted for nothing, but it's coming. They would not invest the time and effort into creating the support documentation and training of the CSR's if it was going to be canceled.

Nothing here, but I'm sure if someone did have an update it would be posted/leaked/stickied already.

When you say its a work phone do you mean your company owns it or you use it for work? I ask because I rely on my phone for work but I own it...I rooted some time ago and I've tried too many ROMs to keep track of. If you stick with a known and trusted ROM chef there really is nothing to be worried about. I use Nils' Business Gingersense and it is an awesome ROM. Very stable, very reliable, very much looks like a "stock" ROM but much better with no loss of functionality like GPS and camera etc.

If your company owns the phone, well I think we all understand that...better just be grateful your company didn't give you a Blackberry! :)
