Hi all,

I am a new member but I have been lurking for quite a while and I am a noob to smartphones. So, I left my Dinc2 in the car for about 5 hours while it was turned on. It got pretty darn hot inside the car but the phone was not in direct sunlight. When I found the phone, it appeared that it had shut down and would not respond to the power button press. I took the battery out for a while, reinstalled the battery, booted and got the screen with the skateboarding droids (fastboot screen)?

At that point I should have gotten some help ... but I didn't. I selected power down and the dinc2 powered down. I pressed the power button and the dinc2 booted back up into the same screen. This time I selected reboot (NOT reboot bootloader). The dinc2 powered off and has not done anything since even though I have removed the battery several times and tried the hard reset (hold volume down button and hold power buttton).

I am going to leave the battery out overnight and see what happens in the morning. I do have insurance but I really don't want the used phone that they will likely send me. Would HTC fix it or replace it with a new phone?

Also, I have some stuff on my SD card that I don't want to lose. If I do get another phone, when is the appropriate time to install my current SD card into the new phone? Before the first boot or after I have the phone up and running?

Thanks in advance for any advice!!!

Take it back and ask for a warranty exchange. You can put the SD card in whenever you want as long the phone is turned off or you unmount the card from the Settings menu,

Thanks for the response. Yes, it occured to me after I posted that Verizon might exchange it for me since there is no sign of physical damage or moisture. At some point in the past I read about Verizon making someone send their phone back to the manufacturer (probably because of physical damage) and I guess that got stuck in my head.

I am fairly competent with computers but I gotta wise up about these smartphones. I don't like being ignorant about my electronic equipment.

I accidentally left my original BB Storm on the roof of my car and drove to work in the rain . . . three days after I bought the phone. Miraculously, the phone stayed on the car and was fine. Since then, I buy the TEC insurance when I get a new handset and cancel it after a few months. The extra $15 gives me peace of mind.

You said you left your phone on in your car for about five hours. Have you tried to charge your battery and then see how it works?
