I had a note 4 and replaced all my chargers with fast chargers. I wanted to be able to get a quick boost if needed. But I would usually leave fast charge turned off if I didn't need it. I'm not sure why Sammy got rid of this feature.

Anyway is leaving the s6 on a fast charger a problem? Any problem using fast chargers for every charge?

No, nothing wrong with using fast charge for every charge. The phone was designed for every charge to use the charger included in the box, so no issues with using it all the time.

If your not wanting to fast charge, who h I think is really useful, just use a standard charger

Yep, just use a lesser rated charger like a charging pad ;)
Fast charging can over time hurt your battery, its just the nature of the beast. Every charge is one less that battery will have just like any other current lithium cells used in phones today. Fast charging is regulated, but like said its a bit rougher on a battery compared to a normal slow charge.
Just enjoy the phone, the battery should hold up well for its life cycle & if it dies early let Sammy replace it ;)

That's is true. I figured the note 4 had the option to disable it for a reason. Thanks folks

I also would add...why would Samsung include it if it would harm the longevity of the device.

Why? Because they want you to PAY them for a new device when this one is toast, or at least PAY them to replace your battery because you shortened it's life span by using fast charging! :-$

They are in this to make $$$$$$ and for no other reason! So anything that will shorten the life span of the phone will hopefully make them more $$$$$$. How many people will pay to get the battery replaced...and have to do without a phone in the interim, or find an old one to use until the S6 is returned? I would bet that most would just complain that their battery already died and get another new phone! :-\

I do not believe that the fast charger is fast enough to cause damage to the battery. Most lithium batteries can be safely charged to capacity in one hour. Higher quality ones can be safely charged even faster than that. The limiting factor in phone applications is more the charger and small scale of internal power circuitry than the ability of the battery to accept a charge. Also, as I recall, the cost for Samsung to replace an S6 battery out of warranty is only $45 including one-day turn around, so even if life were to be slightly impacted there's not a high penalty for replacement in the event it's needed.

This. There is absolute no proof that fast charging degrades the battery in any way.

A user will, probably upgrade before there is any noticeable degradation even if it is two or three year down the road.

I have been using chargers that are no less than 2amp for years now. It's the same changing time as the "rapid" charger samsung stamped on the supplied charger. It's a gimmick people. If you don't believe me, try changing your s6 with a charger from a note 4 or s5. Samsung just slapped "rapid" on there this time

Doesn't the GS5 have USB 3.0?

Maybe because of something called "Planned Obsolescence?!" A seemingly very popular strategy amongst consumer product manufacturers nowadays, such as cars, PCs, smartphones, etc... Seems to do wonders for multi-national companies' bottom line!

After more than three months with no issues, I am not concerned. I kept my GS4 for two years after I passed on the GS5, the first time I didn't update annually. If the GS7 isn't up to my expectations, I will pass and have my GS6 for two years. It will probably be going strong after I upgrade at that point.
