Disable Pin after fingerprint unlock

Go to security/screen lock

You can't completely disable the PIN, it's required as a backup unlock option in case fingerprint fails. It's also required for unlocking the device after a reboot.

That said - I've noticed my FPS has been SLIGHTLY finicky, and after 2 attempts with my finger it will "fail over" to the PIN. Is it possible this is what's happening?

I changed my pin to swipe after set up, if you look close on set up it even gives you a chance to switch. I did the same on my Pixel 3XL

I think pretty much any Android phone will periodically ask for your PIN/password if you're using fingerprint. Keep in mind that fingerprint is still not as secure as PIN/password (assuming the latter is not something easy to guess).

"It still asked you to unlock it". But did the unlock type change? like ^^^^ said it will ask at least once a week

Yeah it works for me like that but in the bed with almost no lights and just screen lighting up my face it won't.

Are you sure it wasn't some other app that popped up?

Maybe check in lock settings if there's some setting mentioning administrative lock using the power button?

Does it still ask for the pin if you use double tap or let the screen time out to put it to sleep?

My first finger scan failed, no wonder it asked for my pin.
