Disabling Verizon Apps

There are a number of preinstalled Verizon apps that I'd like to delete, but can't do so. These include Verizon Tones, VZ Protect (aka Verizon Support & Protection), VZ Navigator, NFL Mobile.

I don't want to root the phone to delete them, but I'd still like to at least disable the apps. When I go to do that, however, I get warning messages such as "If you disable a built-in app, other apps may misbehave. Your data will also be deleted."

I don't want to de-stabilize any other apps. Does anyone know the consequences of disabling the Verizon apps?

Thanks.

If it doesn't work you can always re enable them. In any case anytime you restart the phone all those apps restart too. I find it that w 2gb of RAM there is always something to spare. I have never used all the RAM so I don't tend to worry about them. Initially I really wanted to turn the amazon app off but now I don't care

All of the apps that you mention can be safely disabled. I have disabled all of them and my phone runs just fine.

I've disabled all of these too with no issues, and many more. And not sure if the previous poster was saying these apps would start up again upon reboot, but if so, that is not the case. Disabled apps will not start up again unless you re-enable manually.

The consequence of disabling those apps for me has been less annoyance. I am not asked to update a bunch of apps that I don't use or for which I have a replacement I prefer.

I have a total of about 20 disabled, most of which are on your list, along with Ingress, NFL Mobile, the Moto Chinese input(s), City ID, the stock calendar (I am torn between the Google calendar and Jorte), and the stock calculator (RealCalc).

I currently have 46 apps disabled and have 0 issues with the phone or using any apps - all the VZ apps are disabled.

How (where) do you disable the aps? I saw it when I was first going through my settings, but I have been looking for it for several days now & I can't find it anywhere. I have some aps listed under Settings-Apps, but none of the ones I want to disable are there and I have yet to disable anything. What am I doing wrong?

In settings->apps, slide to the "All" tab (slide from right to left, to go from "Downloaded" to "Running" to "All".) Any apps that you want to disable will be there. (KitKat has a new tab for disabled apps, but Jellybean puts the disabled apps on the bottom of the list of "All").

I found it now. Thanks. There is so much to learn with this phone!
