Disapointed with lack of Rich Text Editing in email

It was more than two years ago when I was happily using a Palm Pre. One of the many features I loved about it was the ability to send corporate (or other) emails with RTF/HTML formatting. Then I went to the HTC EVO and I lost the ability to format my e-mails. And now, two years later on the HTC EVO LTE, I still can't use bold, italics, colors, etc... in my e-mails (using the stock e-mail editor) doesn't this seem a bit archaic?

Does anyone know if the SIII will allow RTF in e-mails using their stock e-mail app?

I just got the S3 ... spent an hour on the phone with Samsung about this. The phone does NOT support any Rich Text email attachments. Very disappointing. BUT ... I downloaded the "Winmail.dat Opener" (freeware), and it works great. Problem solved for me.

Except that it doesn't appear to support composition of RTF... on the opening of RTF email.

It's like the lack of full screen in Chrome for Android.

Google is so ahead on some things, but simple stuff like this leaves me scratching my head. At least they finally added pinch to zoom in the Gmail app.

What's more surprising is that if you forward RTF or HTML email, you can format the forwarded message but not the actual message!?! Just scroll down to the forwarded portion of the message and long press. Then you are presented with the usual select, copy, paste as well as Format and Highlight. WTF?

This has been quite a pain . I switched from a 4s to the nexus 5 three days ago and I really miss the native ios Apple email app. Google please include simple formatting in the email app like bold/Italicize/underline and highlight. The email client is so average. Please make ti better.

Are there free apps that support ActiveSync on google play?

Its 2014. No RTF / HTML yet. Not even in Outlook app.

It's 2016. Outlook app on Android has been revamped. You can view rich text emails received. But alas, there is no way to compose rich text emails in Outlook.
