Question Disappearing permissions. All reset. Android or Samsung update?

Recently I noticed that all of my app permissions had been reset. Had to 'allow' for everything. Not sure if it is an Android update thing, or a Samsung one. Extremely frustrating. Specific settings such as custom notification sounds reset, and I am pedantic about having the right sound (for me) for every notification.

I hate doing Samsung security updates as it also messes with my custom settings.

Anyone else notice this?

I have heard some members mention this over the years but don't recall a solution, I recommend reporting these types of issues to Samsung through Samsung members app

Welcome to Android Central! Are these apps you use on a regular basis, or had they been idle for a while? App permissions can be automatically reset if unused for a while, which is a security measure: https://developer.android.com/about/versions/11/privacy/permissions#:~:text=one-time permissions.-,Auto-reset permissions from unused apps,user had granted your app.

Also, see if you have the "Pause app activity if unused" option, and if so, make sure that's not on: https://support.google.com/android/answer/9431959#unused_apps&zippy=,automatically-remove-permissions-for-unused-apps

Thank you. I have noticed the toggle. I have switched off for most, now. But these were specific ring tones I used for notifications so I could hear if it was a work email or private, and if it was an SMS or system notification. Also chose a specific phone ringtone. Incidentally the phone ringtone was reset after I ran the latest security update yesterday.

I don't think custom ringtones should be affected by this. Are the custom ringtones saved to Internal Storage or the SD card? If they're on the card, try saving them to Internal Storage and see if the issue persists.

Good thinking I had forgotten about the Note20u having sd card
