Im a college student and recently bought a Note 10.1. Been using it every single day for my lectures.
I love everything I can do with it. It really is a great learning tool for college.
Today I bought the Note 3 to replace my aging galaxy S2(Best phone ever) and I am very disappointed at the software incompatibility between the 2 Notes, Especially Snote.
My 10.1 Snotes notes simply CAN NOT be displayed properly on the Note 3.
What I drew on the 10.1 Snotes can be displayed on the note 3 after syncing using Samsung account BUT the background pdf is all gone. Only my drawings and a white background remain.
Now Im feeling dumb having 2 galaxy Note that cannot complement each other.
Anyone know of any solution for this? Otherwise Im getting rid of the Note 3 come Monday.

Are you going to get rid of it because you know of a better solution, or are you just mad at Samsung?

I do not know of a better solution.
Did some searching and it involves using dropsync with dropbox. But the Snote versions are not compatible.
Its a good piece of product, note 3. It can be great if it syncs right with the note 10.1.
The current situation kinda make me CHOOSE to use 1 of my note.

What's your deadline for being able to return the Note 3? I have the original Note phone and the 10.1. I gave up trying to get them to sync ages ago, I couldn't even send them to myself or another Note user and have them be opened. But somewhere along the way, one of the updates must have fixed that because now I can email them to myself and open them on the other device. But I'm waiting for MY very own Note 3 and when I get it, that is definitely one of the things I will be looking into. If I can get S-notes on tablet and phone to sync and be edited and read by each other I can let you know but I probably won't even get mine until sometime next week.

I'd think Samsung will fix the issue in the future with an update to make them work together.

I have 10.1, 8.0 and S4. They are linked to my Samsung account and I have no issues with all syncing and seeing all my notes on all three devices. Granted I can't edit on my s4 but I can open and view them. And, on WiFi, its almost instant sync. I don't understand why note 3 would have compatibility issues with older versions. I know there are more options in newer snote but it didn't appear to change that much. I will have to try it when I get my n3. They probably just want you to buy the new 10.1.

I have a Solution..Just wait and buy the new Note 10.1 2014. I did test it today and it was nice one too.

Yeah I got them to sync via samsung account but the moment I had them edited in my note 3, the note 10.1 will not be able to read it.
Note 3 saves the format in .spd while note 10.1 saves the format in .snb
After syncing thru samsung account, Note 3 will convert the .snb to .spd and from there onwards, the old note 10.1 can't read it anymore.
I guess I have to wait for the JB 4.3 update in quarter 4 2013. Bummer, jumped the gun in buying it.

Use Evernote & Skitch to annotate PDFs. At least until Sammy fixes the version issue.

I already use Evernote heavily so that was my plan from the start. Not necessarily the answer for the OP, but I love Evernote.

I bet the new Note 10.1 and the Note 3 complement each other just fine. Any incompatibility between the Note 3 and the older Note 10.1 could be because of the marked difference in resolution. That's just my guess.

That is just plain unfair! They can't keep releasing new devices in the Note family and then not let them talk to each other! We shouldn't have to buy ANOTHER humongously expensive device just to have S-notes able to go to the other device and be edited. I'm now considering cancelling the Note 3 and getting a Note 2 instead. I don't need to spend ANOTHER 500 dollars for the 2014 tablet when the Note 10.1 is working just fine and does so much. Thanks so much for pointing it out now!

We should just wait it out and see. I have a 10.1 and this will be my next phone. I can sync it with my Gnex.. Lets not get excited over a problem one person is having.
