Disconnecting from wifi

This started happening about a month or two ago... when the screen gets turned off, after some time (30 minutes or less), the tablet will lose wifi connection, and when I bring the screen back on, it will show this exclamation point in the wifi icon, and it will take a minute or more to re-establish wifi connectivity. This is really annoying. It never used to do this before. In the past, the wifi connection would be maintained, even when the screen was off for days at a time.

How do I fix this?

FYI, I have the "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" set to "Always", and I haven't changed that, ever.

OS version: Android 7.0.

Does this only happen on your home wi-fi, or on other wi-fi networks as well?

Thanks.

The above issue was happening on my 5GHz wifi. Once I connected the tablet to my 2.4GHz wifi network, it seems the issue went away, so it's probably something to do with my router, although I used to have this tablet connected to 5GHz wifi for years, and never had that issue in the past, and I haven't made any changes to the router recently either. Strange.

Have you already tried rebooting the router by unplugging its power for 10 seconds?

Does your 5 GHz SSID have a different name than the 2.4 GHz? Make sure they're different -- the device might get confused if there are two different networks with the same SSID.
