Discontinue Date?

Does anybody have any estimates on when AT&T and/or Samsung will discontinue the Captivate? What is the usual shelf life of an Android phone? Will the Captivate have a longer shelf life because of its popularity?

I work in a Walmart Wireless center (cringing) and to the best of my knowledge there are no plans to drop the Captivate. We can't seem to ever get enough of them.

I don't think they're planning on discontinuing the Cappy anytime soon... I keep seeing new owners in here, even when there are dual core phones, 4G phones, etc. I LOVE it!!! Go Cappy!

i was at a ATT store in the mall over the weekend and one of the guys said that the Captivate is being discontuined. I didnt ask him he just mentioned it becuase i was looking for a screen protector and he said had one pack left becuase the captivate was being discontuined. Who knows if he knew what he was talking about.

With the SGS 2 starting the rollout here in the US, all the original Galaxy S phones are probably short timers now. I would expect to see the Captivate get closeout pricing from their website before SGS 2 arrives, and it might be a good pickup for a good, potentially free with contract, smart phone.
