I just got off the phone with Dish. They tell me that I don't need the sling player for android if I have a Dish 922. They said I can access the dvr from any browser. I have one coming today. I was going to download the sling player software but now I'll wait. Has anyone tried using their evo browser to play video from their Dish 922?

I think the rep may have been confused. I know with the 922 you can schedule shows to record via any browser and control the DVR pretty extensively (computer or phone) but I am 99% sure you can NOT watch any video what so ever through the browser.

I take that back, was thinking of another model.

Dish Network ViP 922 1-Terabyte HD-DVR Comes SlingLoaded

Looks like it may have browser support, not sure how it works or how good it is however.

Just buy the app. I have a Vip-922, it worth the price and they will credit you back the $30 on your bill 60-90 days later.

Dish Sling 922 plus Sprints EVO 4g

A Supreme Team. I bought the box when it first hit the market about 2months ago and I am living in wire free Heaven. I bought a Sling box in May for Summer travel but took it back because I did'nt like having to buy the small wireless box in order to try and get connectivity. That ended up being a blessing in disguise because they Drop the Dish 922vip and I haven't looked back. It works without loading anything other than the Android App needed on the EVO. I would never pay for all of the mini portals Verizon,Att, Sprint, Flo TV offer. With this Box, Dish,Sprint, and Android I get TV my way, Anywhere I choose. And Yes it works fine on 3g, but I works great on 4g.

I decided to just SlingBox solo it and it works great. Couldn't deal with a 2 year Dish contract.

don't know what's going on here. I have had the evo since june. I have had the 922 since it was available. I can control it from my EVO, just fine. BUT< there is no way to watch tv on my EVO, as far as I know. I have been anxiously awaiting the release of the app from Dish, and I check every day...and so far nothing?!?!?!

I was thinking about purchasing a SlingBox. does it play well on the EVO? assuming the TV channel is broadcasting HD (16:9) does the EVO play it full screen?

I've used Orb player on my BB and it puts a black border all the way around the video making it even smaller on the BB screen that's already small as it is.

also, by chance have you used the slingplayer on a PC tethered to your EVO (say when traveling) curious about the speed / picture quality here as well.

thank you

If you have the 922 you need to buy the slingbox app from the Market.

It plays great on Evo (albeit battery hog)...The solo does not do HD but the quality from my HD TV is very good...and there is an aspect button with the phone app to stretch which works well also. I have used the tether to laptop and watched a game on a pretty crappy notebook but had some 4g, so I'm sure that helped.

My only problem was with setup you have to make sure you set router correctly. I haven't had a problem since that. If you want to cheap out at $150 get the solo...if you got the money, go HD. I only get one user/one tv at a time. Don't know if that is an issue for you and what the other sling products offer. Most definitely best purchase I have made in a while.
