display alerts whe screen is off

I did a search for 'display alert screen off' and 'display message screen off' and even typing my thread title didn't bring up what I am trying to find out.. so if I missed it I am truly sorry..

Now.. When a calendar alert takes place on my Evo, the screen will light up and show me my upcoming event.

Is there a way to have the Evo do the same thing with a SMS message, or email message? I'd like to see that is happening before hitting the power button and unlocking the Evo.

I did a few searches in Market and Appbrain but didn't see anything

I'm basically wanting my Evo to do what my Pre does, and that is turn on the screen and display whatever alert is incoming

DGAlert Classic will also work. I use it in conjunction w/ SMS Popup

Except handcent wont send pics. Bug has been there for weeks with no fix in sight and devs are ignoring it. Handcent is dead until its fixed.

That is *very* good to know.. if it can't do MMS then I won't even screw with it until it gets updated.
