Display: Automatic Brightness keeps on turning off

i always turn on the Auto Brightness but every couple of days or so i discover it's turned off (unchecked) .. it's obvious to me because when i'm outdoors and it's sunny the display becomes too dim so i check the settings and sure enough auto brightness is off. anyone know why it keeps on disabling itself???

Are you sure you're not accidentally turning it off when you pull down the notification shade?

I'm sure of it cause I use my left hand to tap and the check box is all the way on the top right and I'd know if I clicked that far right..If u know what I mean.
