I've been through every setting but still the glance screen is blank. How can I get it to display the current time like a Windows phone?

Thanks

Mine shows it by default when the phone is picked up.
It's not really "glance" like WM users would be accustomed to, but it's similar.

And I honestly think it's a bad idea. The LCD uses as much energy on AOD as a full white screen.

I had it set to turn on when I went to bed and used it as a clock while it sat on my wireless charging stand. That's the only way I used on my Samsung as well.

The Samsung is an AMOLED. It's different. On AMOLED, only the lighted pixels use up power. On an LCD, the entire screen uses the power.

That is how I use my 950XL - as a bedside clock. At a glance I can see the time and if any notifications have landed during quiet hours. By adjusting the colour according to the time I can tell if I can roll over and go back to sleep without evening focusing on the time, really handy :-)

If you only need it as a bedside clock then you can try Developer Options > Stay awake. That should keep the display on when charging. However, I haven't tried it myself to know if it works as you're expecting.

Where do they hide Developer Options?

It's hidden until you activate it.

Go to

Settings>About Phone>tap the word 'Build Number' 7 times>press the Back button and you will now see Developer Options in the settings menu.
