Hey all,

Just got my Pixel 4 today. One thing I noticed right away is that my display seems to have warm tint compared to my Pixel 3. I actually prefer the cooler tint of the Pixel 3.

I've checked all the settings, and night mode is off etc. Am I missing something?

Anybody else notice this?

Can this be adjusted via software potentially? Or is it calibrated at the factory and can't be changed? It's starting to bug me a bit now. Makes the screen look washed out unless you jack up the brightness.

Yes, screens are going to look different from last year's. We go through this every year. People won't care, some people will. I use dark mode all the time so I never really notice. The only thing I notice is that it is not as bright as my other devices but not enough to be a deal breaker. Everything else looks good when I'm watching videos, pics etc.

For what it's worth if I turn Ambient EQ off and use Boosted it does cool down the whites a little. But this also also going to be subjective to people's eyesight.

The problem with Pixel phones is that on night mode (blue light filter), even if you bring the slider to the minimum, it's still very yellowish.

It's supposed to be yellowish in night light mode.
Yes, but I feel like when you bring the slider all the way to the left (which is minimum) the screen should be more white-ish, like for example on the iPhones.

After using my Pixel 4 for an entire day WITHOUT comparing the display to my Pixel 3 I'm already getting used to the different tone of the display on the Pixel 4. It's not a big deal and the other positives of the Pixel 4 vastly outweigh it.

It's the ambient EQ, they implemented it this year. It's just like the iPhone, it changes the color temp based on the environment. I use it on my iPhone but it is definitely too warm on the pixel, hopefully software updates will make this better because I love it on the iPhone

I have Ambient EQ switched off and it's still noticeably warmer

This could all depend on the particular panel, but turning off Ambient EQ and using boosted cooled the colour of my 4XL screen to acceptable levels for me. I prefer slightly cooler screens.
