Displayed Memory

Everything I've read about the Zen Watch states it has 4gb of memory. When I check the memory status through the Android Wear app it states I have a total of 1.8 gb of memory and so far I've used 0.4 gb. I find it hard to believe the OS takes over 50% of the available memory. Even if it did, it would still show 4 gb of total memory. Is anyone else showing only 1.8 total?

I contacted Asus tech support today. They told me it does have 4gb of storage and it should say that as the total amount. They said I need to get in touch with the seller (Best Buy) and arrange for an exchange. The Best Buy near me doesn't have any in Stock right now. We'll see what happens.

Well that was pretty much a lie. Maybe there is 4GB on board, but only 1.8 is usable and that is sad. Much of it is being taken up by these Asus features, like Find My Phone, Cover to Mute, Flashlight...etc and that's the truth that Asus won't tell us.

Does anyone else's show more than 1.8 gb of total memory? You can check it by opening the Android Wear app. Click on the wheel (settings) icon in the upper right corner. Scroll down to watch storage. It'll show the total amount of memory.

Just for a point of comparison, the g watch shows 2.9 total. It's hard to believe those asus customizations take up 1.1 gb.

No way they take a gig.. So either asus didn't really put 4 gig in the watch (unlikely) or they are saving room for something, or something else is afoot.. (or asus needs to optimize their code and re-release it)

Here is an email from ASUS that answers the question

Sorry for the delay.
After checking with our relative deparment, they just mentioned that it is the normal situation for the Zenwatch, other capacities are imaged, the 4G isn't all for the userdata.

Thanks for your understanding.
