Does all Samsung Galaxy SIII take a SIM card?

My sister just bought a Galaxy S3 from the Net10 company & she hasn't been able to get any coverage on it, make or receive any calls on it.
She noticed that there was no SIM card & wondered if that was the problem.
The people at Net10 told her it doesn't take a SIM card, but I did some research & it seems to me that it does.
So I wanted to know for sure! Does this particular type of phone always take a SIM card in order to have service, like making/receiving phone calls & texts?

Thank you!
Tish

Hello! Welcome to Android Central! Yes all phones do need a sim card to work on a network.

Depends on if it's a CDMA phone which doesn't take a Sim card such as Sprint and Verizon. GSM phones do indeed take Sim cards such as At&t and T mobile.

Can you post the actual device name?

I think it would have to be either a SGH-I535 or a SPH-L710 which is the two versions that are CDMA devices. (The ones that doesn't take a sims card)
