Do Android phones reboot without actually rebooting?

I've had my fascinate since launch, and have been very happy, no crazy behaviour.

Until just now... with phone in pocket, I took it out to check something, and noticed the following:
- Widget Locker was not running (had the default Puzzle Lock)
- When i unlocked, Media Scanner was running, Launcher Pro was "loading" on a few widgets, swipe left/right was also not initially working..
- Widget Locker was then granted SU permissions
- When I long-press home , it says "no recent applications"

Now, this sequence of events always happens when I reboot my phone.. yet, I have indicates that the phone did not reboot:
- Uptime widget still shows an Uptime of 1 day 17 hours
- I heard no boot-time audio files prior to pulling phone out of pocket.

So, this begs the question... what can cause Launcher Pro, Widget Locker, Media Scanner, and "no recent applications" on Home Long-press... WITHOUT an actual reboot of the phone?

I've had LP+ restart every now and then.. I've had Widget locker do that every now and then.. yet, they've never been all at the same time unless I'm booting.

Finally, I do not have any auto task killers installed, so, nothing going on there..

I guess it's possible that one of the top level processes died, taking other apps with it.. without causing the whole phone to consider it a "boot".

Thanks for any input.. I'm not too concerned about this unless it happens again. Just wanted to see what you guys thought.

Your phone rebooted. Sometimes when a required process goes wonky the phone says to itself, "Oh gawd...oh gawd...*reboot*". Kind of like the feinting goats. Anyways I digress....

Any and all smart phones are susceptible to this. Some more than others. Same as with a computer. Explorer.exe and other processes get wonkified the computer will reboot. Its annoying none the less...just one of those things.

This made me lol. I love those fainting goats. :)

fainting goats are no laughing matter.

the phone could have just reloaded the system (like a soft reboot) but most likely it just rebooted because something critical crashed.

^ That. And Fainting Goats are hilarious thank you very much. They dont really faint. Their muscles lock up when they get startled. Its a defense mechanism.

Baaaaaaaaaaaa. :)
