do devs have access to the hdmi out?

Found a video on YouTube demo-ing the hdmi. It says that only the gallery application can use it. That is ridiculous. I was curious about the feature but i'll not be buying a cable if that is all u can do with it.

Does anyone know if there are tools for developers to use allowing video out. Since its the only android phone phone with hdmi, it doesn't seem like something Google would have in sdk. Someone needs open this hdmi up. We need gaming, video chat, and sprint tv output.

Yes, I believe that is all, plus Youtube.

Thanks. I must say I'm disappointed that it is so limited. Hopefully the talented ROM devs will set their targets a bit higher.
