Do Google maps and Google Navigator work together?

I have Google maps and it seems to work fine but someone told me to try Navigator
and I'm wondering whether the two work together, separately, and even if it's worth it to have both.
I'd like some opinions on this topic in order to make an informed decision.

Do you mean Navigator as in the ATT navigation app, or what used to be the Google navigation (the blue arrow)?

The Google navigation app (blue arrow) was always just a link/shortcut to Google Maps - launched in a mode that was primed for navigation. So yes, they do still work together and are the same app - and know a bit about what you searched for on desktop Google maps. Both convenient and a bit creepy.

For reasons I don't understand, they demoted the Blue arrow icon and force you to doink around in regular maps to find the navigation mode. Actually, they finally at least added a big floating button on the maps app - as people were having a helluva time figuing out how to get to navigation.

Ok, that answers that question. They are one and the same application. I'm a little naive about this android
navigation. I really like it better than my old Garmin but am trying to learn how to use it.
Thanks again.
