Do I have to purchase a Verizon branded unlocked phone to use it on the Verizon network?

Question buying a new moto x

about to pull the trigger on a new 32gb using a cyber monday voucher - this device will be used on my verizon contract - can i buy an unlocked phone without a contract (list price $449) or do i need to buy the verizon branded phone (list price $549)?

I believe Verizon has a BYOD (Bring your own Device) where they have prepaid plans. It looks like they start out at $45/month.

Just buy the Verizon flavor off the moto maker site. When It gets to you, swap out the SIM cards, and let Verizon know (I used the chat feature on their site).

I also called the day before I got my phone, and told them I was shopping around for off-contract services, and they dropped my cost by quite a bit. Consider that if you are staying off contract.

Yeah, the Pure Edition will NOT work on Verizon..
