Do not buy Samsung phone?

My mother pointed out that article to me as well and it seems to be aimed at older devices.

Edit: I thought my mother also told me the same article kind of reputed that statement; saying that Samsung was "not the worst offender" and "was trying to make good" on current models being more secure.

Thats what i thought also but wasn't entirely sure. Still wasn't canceling my ultra either way lol

For sure! Don't be intimidated. As long as you are keeping up with your monthly updates (though I think they will download it for you after a while?); not going on any suspicious websites; and/or downloading questionable or unsafe apps (like "cleaning" apps), you're good! :)

Let us know how you like your Ultra when you get it! What colour did you get?

What got me was when they said Samsung was faking their updates but i see that was from 2018 article.

Got the grey and i can't wait. Coming from pixel 4xl. Ive have mostly Google phones but loved the note 10+ that i used for a bit while my 3 week old pixel was being repaired. Then i gave it to my wife .so ive decided to switch. Never could stand Samsung software but its much better now and i love the big screen and hardware.

The grey is very beautiful, for sure. How did you like the 4 XL?

I too did not enjoy Samsung's software but I'm really enjoying my S10. Hope you like your Ultra!

.

but if you would have read the source link in front of it, it said samsung was one of the best with security updates. IMO, the article is bias based on what was left out or how the info was placed within the article.

Also there really isn't anything new in the article. basically it say the most secure phones are the ones that still get security updates and that nothing is 100 percent secure.

Not gonna lie its a great phone, when it works. Just getting tired of all the bugs especially when its not premium in the hardware dept. The software should be flawless and its not. The phone resale value is also horrible . So when Samsung offered me $600 for it i jumped on it. Especially after using the note for a month. It changed my mind about Samsung. Maybe down the road I'll go back to a pixel we'll see

Oh, for sure! There is always room for improvement with any device manufacturer. I'm enjoying my experience so far but like you, I may go back to the Pixel line. I'll look at the 5 when it comes out.

Couldnt care less. I prefer Samsung and will continue to buy as long as they continue to produce high quality phones

This is buried halfway through the article:

To be fair, Samsung was far from the worst offender among phone makers in the study Turner cited, and the study authors later said "they got it wrong" regarding Samsung's issues, without going into further detail.

It seems to be a hasty conclusion.

Sorry, but no one tells me what to spend my money on, and judge if you want, but I still think OVERALL (key word there), Samsung still builds what I prefer.

I don't always buy Samsung phones, and I'll skip interation years, but I also seem to come back.

I agree with you. I always take those kinds of articles with a grain of salt. I'll make the final purchasing choice - and review articles, sales reps, and YouTube reviewers won't. They all help, to be sure, but sometimes you just gotta draw the line and make your own choice. You'll be the one using it, after all! :)
