Do ROMS fix the screen on delay?

So my Note 2 takes a very long time for the screen to turn on with power button press or after a phone call. This seems to affect all devices. Do custom ROMS resolve this issue?

If so, which ones?

How long is a very long time? Mine comes on pretty much instantly. I'm running BeansROM build 11.

2-3 full seconds. I have yet to hang up on someone, the other caller is always able to hit the end call button before my screen turns on.

It's really bad on voicemail when I have to wait in silence for the screen to turn on to hang up.

Before you go down the road of unlocking and rooting...any interest in returning it and getting a replacement? Sounds like a defect for sure. Not sure a custom ROM will fix that. Although it probably will. ;)

You could try going into developer options and changing the animation scales to no animation and see if that reduces the delay.

I agree with the OP. I notice when I move the phone away from my face, there is a delay before the screen lights up. This is annoying when trying to navigate voice prompts. This developer over at XDA seems to be addressing the problem. I'm going to flash it today.

For the record, I'm running BeansROM build 11 and have none of those issues. My wife's Note is stock and has none of those issue either.

I too have a screen on delay and I'm running CleanROM. I have heard of a mod to eliminate it, so I will try to find and flash and report back.
