Do the Android phones on Pre-Paid ever get updates?

Thinking of maybe switching to the pre-paid and getting the Motorola Triumph for Virgin Mobile. Comes with Android 2.2. I was wondering if these type of phones EVER get updates for Android?

They should I don't see why they wouldn't. But if they don't you could always root.
