Do the Moto X 2014 custom colors (not wood or leather) have different textures?

On the first gen Moto X, some of the colors had soft touch plastic and some had harder plastic. Does anybody know if that's still the case and which colors have which?

For the original Moto X I had one with a black back that felt a little grippy. When I drive, the phone would stay put on the passenger seat. Now I'm using a while one and the back is so smooth and slippery it would slide off the seat when I stopped at a red light. I had to get a thin case for it.

I chatted with a Motorola employee about this and after checking with is supervisor, he informed me "all the backs are the same." However, he didn't really speak english that well. Here is our conversation

[08:14:10 PM] Hi, my name is Carlos. How may I help you?
[08:15:52 PM] aaron: Hello! I'm practicing building a new Moto X (waiting for Verizon orders to open) and I had a few questions about the backs. The current X I have is the standard black version that Verizon had before we could use MotoMaker. It's a soft touch plastic that has worn very welll and has no scratches. I was wondering if all the new backs are like that on the X?
[08:16:34 PM] Carlos: I'll be more than happy to assist you on this, Here at Motorola we make things right for you.
[08:16:52 PM] Carlos: Yes, all the plastics back are the same
[08:17:34 PM] aaron: They're all soft touch and scratch resistant? The website only says soft touch is only on the warm colors so that's why I was wondering.
[08:19:54 PM] Carlos: I see
[08:20:06 PM] Carlos: Let me take a second opinion with a supervisor
[08:20:15 PM] Carlos: To double check
[08:21:02 PM] aaron: ok thank you!
[08:21:51 PM] Carlos: You're welcome
[08:28:10 PM] Carlos: I'm sorry for the delay
[08:28:46 PM] Carlos: I just confirm with a supervisor that all plastic back for the moto x are the same
[08:28:52 PM] aaron: It's fine.
[08:29:46 PM] aaron: Oh ok.

I wouldn't trust his information but at least there is something. I want the leather but I'm scared I will ruin it so I was looking into getting a "regular" back but I don't want a hard slippery piece of plastic that will scratch easily. My current standard X on Verizon (black) has been used caseless for probably 80% of it's life since September and the back still looks brand new so that's why I'm concerned. I wish they would be more transparent about this because I'm not sure what I wanna do still.

Now that people have phones, can people answer this? People who have plastic backs please share which color you have and whether it's soft-touch or hard plastic.

I got a Neutral (Smoke). It is a hard back. Wish it was like my other Moto X 2013 black carbon back. That back was a little softer and was grippy. This new phone's back is definitely harder and more slippery. But I still like it and will be more careful going naked.

Good to know. I want to get one with a soft-touch back. So far I've only heard that the black back is soft-touch.

Some are hard and slippy material, some are soft touch and grippy. The issues is they no longer let you know which is which. Personally if I get the hard and slippy ones I would return it for a softtouch, it make a big difference in experience. Maybe call them up and confirm before ordering.

The MotoMaker descriptions on the 2013 Moto X specified which were soft-touch and which were not. I'm hoping the descriptions on the 2014 Moto X MotoMaker will be updated to reflect the same level of detail. Until then, it's up to the early adopters to inform the rest of us.

The "warm" colors are described as having a "soft, scratch-resistant finish". That sounds like soft touch to me, but can anyone with a warm color confirm or deny?

I'd like to know as well, as if there are no soft-touch finishes, I'll just order a wood back.

I saw someone post on a different forum that they had a red back and it was not soft-touch. I think I'll go with a black back and front with red trim.

Would love to confirm this. It's weird that they'd describe it as such when it isn't, but it wouldn't be the first time marketing and engineering weren't on the same page. ;)

Not to mention the customer support having no idea how to answer this either.

I have a purple one, which is not soft touch. I use a bumper so it doesn't matter much but my 2013 navy blue one had a softer feel and was less slick to hold without a bumper for sure.
