Is there a God?

I just want to issue a statement to everyone in here to please keep this thread civil. We don't need anyone flaming or attacking other people's beliefs, thank you!

Now, onto the topic. Yes I do, was raised Protestant Christian and still actively believe in all of it. My faith has gotten me through a lot of tough times.

I put up as No i do not.

But to be more clear, i do not believe there is 1 god out there. I do believe in a higher power, but i believe there is more then 1.

I was raised lutheran, and from my experiences, i just cannot make myself believe in that one true god.

I am currently following the Pagan belief.

Yes I do believe in GOD. I am a Pentecostal Christian but taking a bit of a break from church.

I voted yes, though it's rather complicated atm :)

I voted yes. I do think there is a god but I do not believe that one religion's god is the real one. Almost all religions are based on the same values (ex. Do good for others) and they have interlining beliefs. I do not believe that you must go to Temple, Church or any other holy place to show you're dedicated towards your religion/God because if the big guy in the sky is real and created earth then wouldn't every where be holy. Plus I am sure that actions speak louder than words.

One thing that I do not agree with when it comes to god based religions is that you are looked down upon if you do not go to place of prayer (temple, church etc...). People feel that if they go to church that they are well standing citizens in their community and religion. This is not the case because everybody knows someone who goes every Firday (if you are Jewish) or Sunday (if you are Catholic) but then does activities outside of this circle that would be frowned at if everyone knew about it.

I feel exactly the same way. I believe in God and Jesus Christ, but I do not believe that God is going to think less of me or look down on me if I am not using church as my tool to connect with him. I believe that anyone can speak or pray to God at any given time no matter what without the need to go to a place of worship or speak to at a confession.

I don't like the idea that if you don't worship constantly, that you aren't worthy.
I believe in God. I'm Catholic because I was raised Catholic. And we are (required?) to go to church every Sunday to show faith.
I can show faith in my own house.
Could go into more detail but eh :P

I feel the same way.

I feel if there is the one true god out there, as long as you live a good life and do not stray to the path of evil, then he will welcome you into his arms.

If he was to appear in front of us, i, of course, would believe then.

Moral of the story, be a good person or, to quote metalacolypse for some humor, "Dont be a ****, be a dude!"

I believe in God, but not in man's interpretation of his words.

EXACTLY, I completely agree. Too many people in history have adapted what religion is supposed to be into what they want it to be. They have made religious rules circumstantial instead of it. In addition they have not adapted it to modern days.

I can not stand the people out there that say they are extremely dedicated to god but then they will go out and scream "I hate the (different type of religions, nationality or even lifestyle)". What the hell is up with these people. Doesn't god love all living things? Isn't God supposed to be non-judgmental? People who hate others for no other reason than skin color, religion, etc... and say they are dedicated to god are full of BS. They are only dedicated to their OWN false interpretation of god.

When I used to work in sales I would occasionally get cursed out on the phone by people but when they hung up they would say "have a blessed day"..... Seriously?!?!

Brett I could not have said that better myself, that is so true. Man has completely destroyed religion. I love God and I love my faith, but I hate the idea of religion itself.

Work out your own salvation. Do not depend on others.

This is what I believe. While not a Buddhist per se, the idea that I am judged by a higher power based on what I've done right (or wrong) in my own eyes seems to make the most sense.

I do believe in god, jesus, the saints, and all that other good, catholic stuff, i just think some things that are against church policy wont really be looked down upon by god, just because times have changed.
