Do you think HTC will actually fix the 30 fps issue?

Just curious, do you really think HTC is planning to eventually fix the 30fps issue or do you think they are just going to stick with their initial statement that it's not a problem.

Name anything other than the UI that consistently runs above 30fps without a cap on a snapdragon phone. Then you can disagree.

I can, and do, disagree because I dislike my hardware being capped. If I bought a PC and found out my video card was locked @ 30 FPS even though I don't see any signs of it, I would still consider it a problem.

However, as I said, it was designed this way and HTC never made any promises about frame rates so it is up to them whether or not they want to change it.

I do think there has been enough concern shown that they're considering it but we will see.

Because it's not a problem or an issue. In order for it to be an issue you'd have to hit 30fps.

Every other device is limited to 60fps. Should we start complaining about that as well? After all, it's a limit!

I wish you guys could see my evo running fresh 1.0 with the fps unlock.

Put my phone side-by-side with a stock phone, and THEN tell me the cap is no big deal.

I love that, "it only effects the UI!". Right, it only effects the the part of the phone you have to interact with every time you use the thing.

And who is saying we can't hit 30 FPS? With the cap removed, people seem to be quite happy with the video performance on the Evo.

Well we could see it if you put up a vid. Even with the claimed UI smoothness.

Thanks in advance.

Because 99.9% of the time the UI is static. And also, much of the UI even runs slower than 30fps.

Uh, who says? Common sense says. Show me something that does. Those that "removed" the cap are under the placebo effect.

'Uh', if they ever fix the issue, I'll be glad to run the benchmarks and some games and let you know. Until then, we're kinda screwed on that front.

Go flame someone else.

The benchmarks achieved LESS than 30fps, even on a Nexus One. How do you, perchance, expect the cap to matter?

It's not a flame, it's a simple question.

The cap matters if the system can perform better without it. It's already been shown to run more smoothly without the cap. Simple question? Simple answer.

The flame is you coming at me telling me I'm not entitled to my opinion and then proceeding to continue an irrelevant argument.

But it doesn't run smoother. It's running the same as the same-spec'ed Nexus One (minus small differences due to Sense/Froyo). People THINK it's smoother but it's not. Placebo effect.

I told you you can't disagree simply because it's proven fact, not an opinion matter.

I can disagree with whatever I want for whatever reason I choose. It doesn't have to be logical or correct. As I'm sure you're aware, there are plenty of incorrect opinions out there...

As far as MY opinion goes, until I see a an uncapped Evo running side by side with a capped Evo, I can't say for sure whether or not a difference exists. I can, however, make the logical assumption that limiting my hardware can possibly have adverse effects on my system's performance. If you don't believe me, underclock your processor and see if you notice a difference.

I'm done.

I've got the FPS fix applied to my EVO and did a comparison next to my wife's EVO which was completely stock. As much as Vincent Law believes it's placebo, there is definitely a noticeable difference in how smooth it is in all of the menu animations... Even if you put a stock EVO next to a stock Hero, the Hero is much smoother in the menu animations as well... that's pretty embarrassing if you ask me...

It only hurts the EVO's reputation whenever the benchmark tests are done and the EVO is dead last everytime...

It is absolutely NOT a placebo. At the VERY least, it makes the scrolling on the home screen and app drawer MUCH smoother.

What benchmarks are you talking about? I've run fps2d after unlock and I average around 52 fps.

Since when is fps2d a benchmark? All it does is loop. That's not a benchmark. *facepalm*

I swear, you're all hopeless. Of all the things to complain about, you complain about the one thing that's most irrelevant.
