I just got the nexus 10 and i can't help but feel that it's too heavy ? I've sampled an Asus 10" tablet yesterday in the market and it was featherweight compared to this ?

On paper nexus 10 is lighter than an ipad 4, however when i hold ipad 4 it does feel lighter.

Did you feel that nexus 10 was too heavy ? How would you rate the weight ?

thanks

I don't own it, but I played with one for quite awhile and I didn't notice the weight. It could be that it's distributed differently by the way you hold it or perhaps there is an actual mass that physicists haven't yet discovered attributable to "awesome" that Samsung doesn't know they need to include in the total mass. The extra awesome might be bending gravity near the device. :)

My previous (first, actually) tablet was a Toshiba Thrive 10", so needless to say, my Nexus 10 feels light as a feather!
(Part of me feels like I'm replying to a troll... I hope that's not the case)

whats asus tablet are you talking about? I felt its lighter than ipad and any other 10inch tablet i have hold

Honestly after a full day of use I don't find it so heavy anymore its def lighter than ipad4. My problem was that I was holding it out of box trying to see how heavy it was and it felt real heavy. After real world usage it feels nice and light in fact I'm using it portrait which I feel is the better way to use this tablet.

Not sure why you're asking this. If we all come back and say "no, it's not too heavy" is that going to make yours feel any lighter, or influence in any way your decision to keep it? Regardless of what people say, it isn't going to change anything about the tablet you currently have. It is what it is. What matters is how YOU feel about it.

Having said that, I love mine and don't feel it's too heavy at all. I'm 66 years old and in good health, but I'm certainly not what you would call muscular. I use mine at least 2-3 hours every day, and don't have any difficulty with its weight whatsoever. I honestly can't see how anyone else could have a problem with it, unless they are doing something weird like trying to hold it at arm's length the entire time they are using it.

Dude I was asking for opinion as I wanted to know if many people thought nexus 10 was heavier than they would've liked. Isn't that what a forum for.

Anyway Im adjusted to its weight now and I must say I love the surface at the back provides excellent non slip grip.

IYour original post came across (at least to me) as almost asking if you should keep the Nexus 10 or trade it in, since it was so heavy. E.g., it's so heavy you won't enjoy using it. That was the impression I had in mind when I answered you.

At any rate, I can see how my reply came across as snarky and I apologize for its tone. The second half of my post did try to address your question, in that I am quite comfortable using it and don't feel it is heavy at all.

PS. It is a great piece of technology, and I''m glad to see you are settling in and enjoying yours.

My iPad definitely fells heavier. Also the iPad is slippery as heck. I have had it slip out my hands several times.

The nexus 10 is also lighter than my Transformer without it's keyboard.

Slippery + expensive = bad juju.

For me (YMMV), the weight is not a factor since I knew that I would not be holding it for very long. For tablets/ereaders, I started with a Kindle. However, I bought a tooled leather case for it after one slipped out of my hands and broke when it hit the tile floor. Amazon replaced it for free. I've dropped it with the leather case and no problems. I also had a Kindle Fire which was a little heavier, but not bad. I didn't read books on it though and as a tablet, it's way inferior to my N10. I bought a case for my N10 which is also a stand. I use it in the stand 80% + of the time so, again, the weight is not an issue for me. The case does add some weight though. If someone really wants a very light weight ereader, I recommend the Kindle paperwhite. I just got one for my wife and it's really the lightest of any that I've handled. I'm not out looking for the "one size fits all and does all" device. We also have an ASUS netbook. It definitely is heavier but only slightly bigger than the N10. The netbook was only $275 and that was at Best Buy. It has more power and capability than the N10 and is a few years older. However it's not as convenient as a tablet, IMO. As noted in some posts above, it does boil down to personal preferences/uses. I don't have a smartphone and no plans for getting one since I don't like the small screens.....and those expensive 2 year contracts. Another factor is buying/using a particular family of products such as Google, Apple, and/or Amazon. Thankfully, I've been able to use and sync the things that I need including the apps that I had on my Kindle Fire.

Try a Xoom if you think the Nexus 10 is "heavy". Remember, tablets are usually heaver than expected because of the glass screen. Glass is heavy. In any case, I would not call the Nexus 10 "heavy" compared to anything else 10" out there.
