I know this isnt really a S6 question but I was curious about what people do with their phone at night. Since some people have some battery drain from cell standby and by the Android system stuff I was wondering what you all did?

My last phone I turned off every night and on in the morning, I just dont like having it on all night when Im sleeping. Is it bad for the phone to do this? Is it good for the phone? Does it make no difference?

What are everyone elses thoughts

I suspect 99% of people just leave their phone's on 24/7 unless there is another reason to reboot or shut it down. I think the phone manufacturers know this and design their phones/batteries so that there is no harm in doing this.

There is no technical reason to turn your phone off at night. It is neither bad nor good, just a preference. Your phone will survive its entire life just fine being on the whole time and it will survive equally well turning it on and off all the time.

There also seem to be a camp of people who are freaked out about plugging it in and charging over night. The phone and battery will be just fine.

I leave mine turned on and charging. I also have an app called AudioGuru which silences my phone during sleep hours.

I leave it on. I want people to be able to call me at night if they really need me.

You don't need to turn your phone off at night. You can leave on and plugged in and you'll be fine.

Sent from my Galaxy S6

I leave mine on (note 4). I have an elderly parent and I need to respond to calls quickly.

Having transitioned from a RIM device, I got used to turning off the device when I out it on the charger at night. Looking forward to trying the wireless charging pad. You don't necessarily need to. I like having a refreshed device every morning. My wife uses her GS4 as an alarm clock so it stays on pretty much all the time.

I leave mine on, i havent had a home phone in probably ten years. I have to be reachable 24/7 so i cant leave mine off.

I do restart it once a day, just an old habit i guess lol.

I am coming from a Moto X to a Samsung Galaxy S6? Edge. My current Moto X has an app called Moto Assist, which allows you to specify hours that calls will not ring through. Mine is set for 11 p.m. to 6 a.m., the app also allows to let your Favorites get through or anyone who calls twice within five minutes as well, works very well.

Question, does the Samsung have a similar functioning app? Or do I have to look for a third party app to do this? Never had a Samsung device before that is why I'm asking.

yeah. look for DO NOT DISTURB. You can even add it to the Quick Settings panel in the notification shade.

On call 24/7 so I wish off was an option. That said, as a parent with adult kids I doubt I would turn it off anyway.

I leave my GS3 on and charging overnight. I have Tasker turn off notifications unless it's my wife, kids or parents.

Once a week Titanium Backup does a backup and reboot.

I leave mine on an charging over night. I also leave my phone in the living room where I cant hear it while im sleeping.

Leave mine charging with Do not disturb automatically turned on at night. Only alarms, or contacts in my favorites can interrupt me.

Yup thats what I do...I dont see the point of turning the phone off at night...I just put my phone on the wireless charger and go to sleep

Yeah I have being doing that on my previous Moto X and it was cool that's now included as standard feature in lollipop. Though unfortunately many people don't use that I think, but I always do that for all my devices, even iOS has the similar feature.
