dock icon popped up for no reason

I browsed the interwebz and for some reason the docking icon decided to popup for a few moments. I dont know why it did this. I was using an unsecure wifi connection, maybe that triggered it, but i have tried virusscanners and nothing got a red light. Does any of you know of this issue?
