Does Anti-Shake(photo or video) feature really do anything?

I've tried it on and off and can't really notice a major difference... am I doing something wrong?

Not a major difference, but you do notice something.

I have essential tremors which cause my hands to shake. For me, the feature doesn't help much. What I've found to work the best is to use the Best photo mode & pick the clearest one. Actually, the one it picks is usually the clearest.

It's good for keeping text more clear, but text mode does that too

I've see "text mode" but never figured out what it was supposed to do?
