I was reading over at bionic forums that they can take screen shots with shootme. They give a link over at xda. Has anyone tried it on stock tbolt?

Apparently it does on bionic. At least someone claims so over at that forum in the sticky with screen shots. Another app was mentioned for non-rooted bionics as well. One designed originally for the atrix. Neither are in the market. They are from apk

Re: Does ShootMe App work on Tbolt (non-rooted)

There is a number of apps on the Market that reports doing screenshots now without root, I haven't tried any of them because I am rooted but they are worth a look...

No I didn't. DUH! I have tapatalk set to send me a notifier when there is a new post but somehow got the one after frank's but not frank's. I'll check it out.

Just read the reviews. REALLY BAD plus costs 5 bucks if it works. Will have to wait til someone advertises that it has been tried and it works on tbolt.

No Root Screenshot works fine. The reason for the "bad" reviews is that it has one important thing different than the rooted screenshot apps. You have to hook your phone to the USB port on your computer and run an "enable screenshot" app (from your PC) to enable the screenhot capability. This has to be re-accomplished after the phone is restarted. It takes about 15 seconds. It maintains as long as you don't restart your phone.

There are a few reasons that I don't find this "bad". One is that whenever I want to share a screenshot, if No Root Screenshot isn't already enabled, I am almost always at my PC, so, who cares? Also, I can still share screenshots directly from my phone, anytime/anywhere, if I have not restarted my phone since enabling No Root Screenshot. The times remaining where I might be "caught with my pants down" are so rare for me that it hasn't happened in two months.

But, somehow, you still gotta scrape up the 5 bucks! :) Coke bottle returns, maybe?

Not very useful for me. One reason I want to be able to do screenshots is to use in conjunction with printbot to select "share" as an option from the picture to "share" from printbot to network printer.

Ideally, id like to take screenshots of emails to print them. If I have to connect to pc with usb it defeats the purpose. Believe it or not I haven't connected to the computer with usb since the first week I bought my tbolt. I use a network sharing app to copy and paste files to and from pc. I also do restarts quite often. Just about every day. I find if I go too long without one I run into problems. I once went a week to retain home screen rotation but the phone ran worse every day and I finally had to restart to get data connection. Toggling data on and off wouldn't work. Restart did.

I can see that this app would be great to just share screenshots in the sticky here. No offense but that ability isn't worth 5 bucks to me. I might spend 99 cents for an app that allowed screen captures of any app while running like a pc can. If what I want isn't possible then screenshot isn't very useful to me but might be to most other users.

Everything you mention (including printing/saving, etc.) can be done, directly from your phone, as long as your phone is in "enabled" status. No need for a PC unless you restart the phone -- which I understand you do frequently. Just clarifying.

You can always look in Amazon market. They select a daily free app and maybe it will be offered. But it doesn't work on the Thunderbolt. A friend sent me a link to it. Maybe there is another one but I don't k ow

stand-alone screen shots are just not possible with the thunderbolt unrooted. some phones (particularly a lot of moto phones) do allow it, but no htc phones to the best of my knowledge. I use shootme btw, it doesn't do a great job of taking screen shots when there is moving stuff on the screen.

Why do you say that? That's a really nice screenshot of angry birds. I wasn't suggesting catching one in flight!

Its a great idea but I like to stick to the marketplace. I've read of some problems using (and uninstalling) amazon apps at times.
