Hi all,
In the last week or two my phone updated its operating system and now YouTube and Google maps won't go away when I hit home, they pop up these annoying floating windows that are constantly in the way and I have to tap on and close, and in the case of YouTube, open the drop down menu and hit play again... Does anybody know how to turn that feature off? I've looked around the app settings and the phone settings and can't find it... It's diving me crazy!

Also for some reason if I pause pandora for more than 5ish minutes(it's never constant), my phone kills the process and I have to restart the app, losing whatever song was playing in the process... Is there a way to disable that too?

For YouTube, you can disable PiP mode. Tap your profile icon in the top right, select settings and disable the PiP setting. Alternatively, pause your video before hitting the home button and YouTube shouldn't stay on the screen.

I don't see an equivalent for Maps.

As for Pandora - this may not be a setting. If you paused Pandora then went to another task on the device, Android may have unloaded Pandora from memory if it needed to free some up for another task.

Certain apps are "don't kill", most aren't. Pandora isn't. (Killing a phone call could be annoying or even dangerous - killing music can't cause any problem.) So if Android needs the RAM space,it just kills Pandora and, if Pandora doesn't keep track of what it's doing (all Android apps are supposed to - many don't), when you switch back to it (Recently Used button), it starts fresh. (I don't know if that's the case - you say that you manually restart Pandora - that will always "lose your place" in any app. Try rerunning it from the Recently Used Apps button and see if it picks up from where it left off.)

Pandora is just poorly coded in my opinion. I've seen it killed almost instantly on my V20 (a flagship device with plenty of RAM) when pausing and leaving the app just to go to the home screen. This has been an issue with it for years, so I don't expect that to change any time soon.
