So, I've been a patient sort until recently. In the past few days, I've been making the rounds, asking places about the Galaxy Nexus. And the responses I get have a strange difference in tone.
My question: "Have you heard anything about the Galaxy Nexus?"
Verizon corporate store rep: "We haven't heard anything about the Galaxy Nexus."
Other Verizon retailers: "We don't know when we can sell the Galaxy Nexus."
I know that store reps are usually unreliable, but the fact that one would DENY that they know anything about the device is disconcerting. At least Best Buy, Radioshack, et al. are saying "Yes, we have them. No, we cannot sell them."
I would not be surprised, at all, if Verizon actually did cancel the Nexus release at this point. I mean, there's clearly been delays, even if they weren't made public. (See: Black Friday ads, Mattias Duarte saying it'll be released in November, that one store displaying a huge "Galaxy Nexus is here!" graphic when it didn't have any to sell.) And, if I may don a tinfoil hat here, I wouldn't be surprised if Verizon is the one leaking false release dates to make it seem to Google and Samsung that, yes, they do intend to release this device eventually while they mutter under their breath "suckers".
