Does anyone know of a weather app that can do location based weather updates? All the apps I've ever used allow me to set a few different cities and one city as my default city. What I want is an option where say every hour the gps updates the location and the gps gives you the current weather for where you physically are at that moment. I work 70 miles away from home so it doesn't help much to know what the current temp is at my home

Well, I use Beautiful Widgets and the homescreen widget uses Geo-location and updates the weather for wherever you are. Pretty cool, if you ask me. It is not free, but totally worth it because you get a lot more than a weather app.

The weather channel app from the market. You can configure it to follow you location, but i think that would kill the battery. And it's a reliable source

WeatherBug Elite does a great job of letting you set up multiple locations.

I love weatherbug elite best app for weather. if u look in the app section you can see weatherbug then beautiful widgets are tops nut I don't see how u can compare the two bw doesn't do alerts or radar screen captures or web cams or still pictures

I agree with weather bug. I work all over the Portland and the surrounding cities and every time I go from one area to the next it keeps up with what the temp is in each location. I have both beautiful widgets and weather bug running and beautiful widgets so far is not as accurate as the weather bug.

Now I will say they just upgraded the the weather part of the app in beautiful widgets and so I have not had a chance to use the new version of the app yet.

I have TWC. I have the widget set to follow my location and have it update every hour and it doesn't kill the battery. Just leave gps turned off and it still follows you using the towers. Works very good for me. Sometimes when I'm on the lake and in one town it will say I'm in the neighboring village but there is no difference in the weather considering I'm only a mile or 2 as the crow flies from the place it's showing. With the gps on or If you are in a city and not a small town or village it will show the exact place but its not worth the battery drain to have the gps on imo because the app works just as well with it off.

Weather Bug Elite is my favorite. Can set up multiple locations with "my location" as one of them. This will use your GPS to follow you.
Well worth the couple of bucks.

hey,
there is a new app (launched few days ago), called NOOLY.
the app is focusing on Micro Weather, so you get the weather for your current location as well as any other location (each location is about 1 square mile !).
the app get the location from your GPS, you can also see multiple location at the same time.
the best thing about the Nooly app is that it predict the weather in a 5 minutes resolution !
e.g. the Nooly app may tell you that there will be light rain in your parking place in 20 minutes and that there will be fog on the highway 15 miles ahead.
on the downside, there are some bugs (new app) and the app is available only in the US.
