AC Question

Does anyone know what sec.abt is.

It installed itself on my note 3 which has gone to lollipop a few weeks ago. Norton picked it up and looking at the application manager it has loads of permissions and is flagged red as potentially costing money. I tried deleting it and it pops straight back. I called EE and they were none the wiser. They advised me to do a factory reset which I have done and its still there.

google:
"Detecting and removing Absolute persistance technology"
in quotes (yes its spelt wrong)
Made by the NSA and used for whatever your tinfoil hat wants to imagine.

I have the same file on one of my handsets. There are 3 HTC One M8 handsets in my house but only my phone has this sec.abt application. The file is listed under User Apps (not Android System Apps). It reinstalls itself immediately after I uninstall it. Factory reset doesn't help - it just pops up on the 'downloaded apps' list. Even Root App Deleter and other app killing programs won't work - admittedly my handset is NOT rooted. Sophos continually warns me it is a threat. Can anyone advise?

It allows your phone to be tracked by whoever the admin is of the app. It's what rental places use to lock their phones. They can also change anything in the phone.
