Has there been any articles or announcments for when android 2.2 is going to release on the Evo. Also can someone explain what the differences will be. Will it make the phone faster? more responsive?. Or is it just bug fixes.

They keep sayin soon... I think it will be a lil bit slow coming to HTC because they have to make it play nice with Sense

Coming from the Pre ansd still waiting for flash. I DO NOT even think of this. If it happens it happens. It would be nice to have it now.....but I will try and put it out of my mind. And you will get flamed this has been brought up a few times already.

Flame on.

and it starts. *facepalm*

can we just sticky this now and force everyone to put the froyo speculation posts in this one.

I don't think we'll see it until after the Nexus gets it. I'm leaning more towards the end of July/beginning of August at the soonest.

This is true...

We will not see 2.2 before all the other phones that are ahead of us get it. The Nexus being the first to get it.

With Android you get a choice of phones, it's not like the iPhone or Pre, where they are a single phone company. This comes at a price, as the iPhone and Pre get their updates immediately, Android phones have to wait.

I would say around 6 months.

The official HTC line is "Second Half of 2010" The Nexus One is all ready getting it and is alway first. I heard the Motorola Droid was going to be second in line with the EVO and Droid Incredible next.....

HTC Sense is what screws it up... I wish you could CHOOSE to have the true vanilla Android like the N1... You can semi-Disable sense on the EVO but it's not truly vanilla Android...... If HTC would give you the option you could get 2.2 or any update a heck of a lot faster.... But instead you have to wait for Sense to play nice with the new Android version and that takes forever...

By the time we get 2.2 the N1 will be getting 2.3......

I'm with Robbie317 about the "true vanilla Android" experience on the EVO. I wish had the choice.

You do have a choice. Google is your friend ... and it sounds like rosie is your enemy. You'll get what I meant by that later ;)

Thanks... I got use to it since the Nexus One was my first Android phone. Sense is neat but it's mostly like specialty paint on a car. It's mostly for looks.. Some of the widgets are helpful but they are not a must have.

They should just let you download stock Android to your HTC device if that is what you want...

Its cool coming from the pre and being my first android phone. I think the evo is great and stock android, sense, I dont know the difference. I guess thats good for me.

Let me see if I can piece this together; "Rosie" is the codename for Htc Sense, right? Google would be my friend if they released a stock android rom for the EVO, right? I was alway told that I was the brightest crayon in the box.
