Im thinking about getting a Dexpad, just to use my S9+ during my lunch time at work, since I cant use the office computer to personal use.

Does it worth it? Just to check emails, social media and maybe some youtube videos.

Does it get overheat? what about battery life?

Thanks!

Hi, i do not use the Dex on my S9 Plus but as far as i can tell, it will ruin the battery... As it will always be charging... As for heat, the dexpad has a fan(the old version) the newer version might need some additional cooling.

Would be good if there's an option to turn on/off charging...

No no dont get me wrong. I have OCD so i dont want anything to do with risks of damaging my phones.

Dex is actually useful. I was planning to get the Tab S4 as it had Dex built-in it. For basic stuff its a good choice but cost held me back(USD$600 in Indonesia)

It is also quite handy with Microsoft Office. But for me i cant because OCD xD. If you change your phone every year or two, you can give it a try. But get the 2nd version as it is easier to use(1st version requires you to remove case)

I think that Hermes Hidayat has caused some unnecessary fear. The Dex pad works just like any other charger. It only charges your phone as necessary.

I have a Dex pad that I use with my Note 8. Because of the case that I have on my Note 8, I bought an extension cable so the Note 8 doesn't actually sit on the Dex Pad so doesn't get the advantage of the fan. I haven't used the Dex pad for great lengths of time at one sitting but it is useful and a handy alternative.

I get it, so you're from Indonesia, let ask you something, how much does the s9+ cost there? id like to know the price variations between other markets besides USA and Europe. Im from Brazil and we dont have many options here and the ones we have are pretty expensive, like the s9.

I dont need the dexpad to use it for long time periods, just to check some emails and social media stuff during the lunch time.

Thanks for the reply.

Hey man, I get his point. I kinda baby my phone a lot, since its very expensive here (Brazil) but I also got your point. Im thinking about getting one, i just need to use it to check social media stuffy and emails. Maybe some youtube videos. Does the Note 8 get excessive heat since you dont use the fan?

You said I haven't used the Dex pad for great lengths of time at one sitting.means you cant justify the damage it might do to your phone.

And also The Dex pad works just like any other charger. It only charges your phone as necessary. Which is harmful. IF it had a setting to charge when battery is below a certain level then its good. If its just like "any other charger" then it will cause harm.

Unnecessary fear. First of all, you dont know me IRL. Thus making the phrase unnecessary fear invalid. You do not know how i treat my gadgets. I am OCD.I even have a Sirui Dry Cabinet to keep my gadgets at night. i want my phone to last and be in perfect condition even though i buy a new flagship from different brands every few months.

I bought my S9 Plus 256GB version for USD$966.And yes it is 1 of my most expensive Android ever... No.1 would be my Note 9 which is USD$1000.

And yes S9 Plus is actually more expensive as it has 6GB RAM/256GB ROM whereas my Note 9 has 8GB RAM/512GB ROM. a difference of ONLY USD$34...

And im a logical kind of person. If it keeps charging, its gonna wear the battery down. Thus i did mention if it had a setting to charge at a certain percentage to maintain battery health.

Thanks for the reply, I got my S9+ 128gb for 799USD, a lower price but I have to stay with the carrier for one year.

I understand your OCD, I have anxiety disturb, I know its different but I understand you. Thanks again for sharing! Im thinking about getting a dexpad!

These phones are expensive everywhere.

No, the Note 8 doesn't get excessively hot when using it with Dex Pad. I haven't really noticed much of a temperature increase.

Not true. I completed what I wanted to do with it connected to Dex pad and moved onto other things.

This is not harmful. It is the way it is designed from the manufacturer so that you can have full use of your phone.

Ok, so you are OCD. You then know the definition of OCD. And you know that by the nature of OCD you fear things that aren't really a concern.

I respect your feelings but that doesn't make it the truth.

So youre telling me that having my phone plugged in for working hours(8 hours in Indonesia) is harmless to my phone?

The s9+ will reduce charge or stop charging if Temps get too high. It shouldn't if you use dex though.

I use the dex and it works pretty decent. I have access to a display and can use usb keyboard and mouse (or you can use bt ones too). It isn't going to replace a computer though as it is somewhat limited in regards to which apps can be used.

Overall for the $38 that I paid for it, I have no qualms. Full retail of $100 is debatable though.

I've gotten rid of my computer and laptop after having dex. And I'm a senior developer programmer using citrix to log in. To me, I can't leave Samsung cuz of dex now. It's freaking amazing.
