Does anyone worried about screen burn in?

I've heard more about LG screen burn-in than Samsung. Actually, I've heard nothing about Samsung screen burn-in, but the Pixel 2 XL screens are made by LG, and people have talked about problems with them.

So personally, I'd feel better about the screen on a Samsung phone than the screen on an LG phone. If you treat your Samsung phone right, I'm sure that you won't have a burn-in problem. For LG, not so sure.

Burn in can happen on any OLED and it's caused by the consumer and not inherent to a particular brand. If you haven't heard of burn in on a Samsung just Google it or go back a couple of posts from mine.

I had an S7 and it did get burn-in but I honestly never noticed until I factory reset the phone to turn in for a trade in with Verizon. In my daily use I never noticed it.

Currently I use the S9. I have been trying to be cautious. I use auto brightness, but when outside I tend to turn it down at least below the red area on the brightness scale because it always goes to max brightness outside. Ie. when using Google Maps I will turn it down a little because some of the static images on maps can cause burn-in. Or I sometimes just turn the screen off with maps and listen to the directions. I can easily turn it on when I know I'm nearing a spot where I need to see the directions. Also I play Pokemon Go and use full screen mode. I had played one day for 3 hours or so where it had the nav buttons on screen, and I did notice image retention occur with those buttons. It went away after a couple hours, but scared me at first. The screen was also on max at that time playing outside, hence why I turn the brightness down a bit from max when outside for a while. One other precaution I use is hiding the navigation icons. I think those are more likely to burn-in since they are static. I don't use AOD either, but more so because I just don't get much out of it.

I guess this all may seem a bit silly, but I know this phone can get very bright but that also can be hard on the screen. For the most part I feel I'm getting full use out of the screen and don't mind making these adjustments. It's just smart to be cautious when using the phones in ways you know can strain the screen anyway.
