Does factory reset remove carrier information?

My S3 has been acting a little funny lately, and I had tried the usual full shut down, as well as other methods to get a certain app working again. Delete and re download did not work either, so I decided to go to a factory reset. I was wondering, what backup method do you recommend for something like this, and also, would performing a factory reset remove my carrier info, like phone number and data plan? I do have a SIM card, if that helps at all. Thanks for the help!

Hello,
The phone number and data plan and possibly some of your contacts are stored on the sim card. (the sim card will not be erased with a factory reset)

I don't know if your phone is rooted or has a custom recovery... Or if it's 100% stock original.

If you have root and custom recovery you can make a nandroid backup with the custom recovery.... And then backup apps /data with apps like titanium backup, helium and there are several others.

For the contacts and calendar I recommend backing them up with Google.

Hey! What are you hoping to back up? Google does a pretty good job with things. I would recommend making sure contacts are backed up to your SIM. You can find messaging backups as well. Google Photos does a great job if you are looking to back up photos, and it will let you do all of the existing photos you have already taken.

It will not erase any of your carrier information. That's stored on the SIM and with your carrier.
