Does find my phone work on a Samsung S5?

I was going to connect my cell to find my phone. Would like to know if having this set up uses up the battery and if having find my phone registered is a good idea?

Samsung can find your phone, Android Device Manager can find your phone, you don't need still another way to find it. (Those apps were written before Android Device Manager was up and running.)
