Yup, but it depends on the terms of the store. Best Buy, for instance, will do returns and warranty exchanges for 15 days (more if you're in a different level of their loyalty program), but once that's done, the remainder of the warranty term will be handled by the manufacturer. You can still go through the store where you purchased it, but they'll end up contacting the manufacturer if said initial period is done.
If you got extended warranty or insurance, then the terms of those policies and companies responsible apply.
